IT ImpactAnalysis – Individual Assignment (25%) – The Assignment had two sections :

I.. BusinessAnalysis – Individual Assignment (10% ) -
This assignment asks you to prepare a short paper to be handed in, the content of the assignment is an analysis of the company of your choice. At a minimum, you should include:
1. What business the company is in.
2. A brief description of its customers, suppliers and business partners.
3. State what value company provides to each.
4. What are the competitive dynamics and the competitive balance of power within the industry?
5. How easy it is for new competition to enter the marketplace?
6. How easy is it for your company’s customers, suppliers or partners to do business with you?
7. Can IT be used to create value and change the basis of competition? If so, how?
Your paper should be a maximum of three pages long, double spaced.

II. The second section of the assignment is an extension of the Business Analysis paper (15%) . At a minimum, you should include:
1. Is your company a producer or consumer of IT?
2. How big a part does IT play in the production or consumption of your main product?
3. What is the structure of the IS department in your organization? Include an organizational chart as an appendix.
4. Is there a CIO / CTO / CKO? If so, how do their roles differ?
5. Which role to do you aspire to, and why?
6. Which of the many business models presented in class best fits your organization?
7. How is revenue generated in your firm? (You don’t have to give any trade secrets)
8. Give an example of a specific IT product or service that could be used to increase the revenue stream. Use your imagination.

Your paper should be a maximum of three pages long, double spaced, with reasonable margins.

One of the technologies that have really come to the front for many people since the creation of Blogs is RSS, or Really Simple Syndication. This is the technology or file format that allows you to subscribe to blogs and websites and be constantly notified of any new content.

Every day, RSS feeds allow me to keep track of hundreds of websites and blogs, reading their new content without ever actually visiting their site. While I am sure that many people have spent hundreds of hours on their designs and whatnot, I really just want to keep up with all the new things they are writing.
